if your thirty-five year old husband cannot find his fucking socks and it's pissing you off, you're probably constipated. here, have some bran. would you like some patriarchy with your breakfast?

looks like kellogg's has not really evolved.

and here's an ad that supports social control. It's not 'sweet' or 'cute', it's stupid and smug and belittling women who don't just stick to their 'traditional' roles.

  1. OH MY GOD. THE SECOND AD. JUST.OH.MY.FUCKING.GOD. EVERY TIME IT'S ON I GO ON A TWENTY MINUTE RANT ABOUT HOW CADBURY WANTS TO SERVE US SOME PATRIARCHY WITH A POTENTIAL DOSE OF DIABETES TO BOOT. IT MAKES MY BRAIN HURTS. AND I HAVE CONSIDERED BOYCOTTING CADBURY DAIRY MILK, BUT EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT I REMEMBER THAT I DON'T LIKE DAIRY MILK ANYWAY. WHICH I REALISE NOW IS GREAT, BECAUSE DEEP DOWN IN MY HEART I ALWAYS KNEW THAT THE MAKERS OF CADBURY DAIRY MILK WERE A BUNCH OF SEXIST MORONS.

I'd also like to add to the list - Age-defying creams : The epitome of self-hurt and the resultant complex that is being fed to millions of women who are obligated to start using this shit in their mid twenties.

    this ad is a TEXTBOOK EXAMPLE. guy sitting on his ass, telling the girl what she's supposed to be doing. so negative sanctions. and then positive sanctions to reinforce good behaviour. i should do a paper on this.

  4. Chaos: yes the fair and lovely ad isn't far behind. it preys on women with low self esteem and tells them that IT REALLY SUCKS TO BE DARK BECAUSE NOBODY WILL EVER LIKE YOU THAT WAY. in other countries it'd be racist but it's all fine and dandy here because IT'S THE SUBCONTINENT.

    and yes, 'age-defying' creams! they keep pushing the target age lower and lower so now it's women in the twenties they're telling to start using fucking ponds otherwise they'll look old and their husbands will not love them anymore.
